Now, the couple is sharing their story and giving tips to others on how to have a lasting relationship in the limelight.
The two explained that their biggest issue in the relationship was communication.
“We were on different pages, and we didn’t know how to communicate,” the Real Husbands of Hollywood star said in an interview with People. “We just didn’t know how to talk to each other without being emotional.”
The two also confessed that their relationship was on and off for the first couple of years.
“We got off to a rocky start, but we learned a lot about each other,” Hart said. “We learned to compromise and to listen to each other.”
The couple then shared a few tips that have helped their marriage.
“The biggest thing for us has been communication,” Hart said. “We’ve learned to talk about everything, even the small things.”
The two also advised to always be supportive of your partner’s dreams and aspirations.
“It’s important to have someone who believes in you and pushes you to be your best,” Hart said. “Envy and jealousy have no place in a relationship.”
The two finished by saying that it’s important to have fun and to keep the spark alive in your marriage.
“Don’t forget to laugh and to enjoy each other’s company,” Hart said. “Date nights are important.”
